PeopleSoft UPK training for Fortune 500 company

Our client is a leader in food processing, feed and fertilizer production, and futures trading who implemented PeopleSoft’s 8.8 HRMS suite. The client’s implementation included the core Human Resources functionality, Payroll, and Benefits Administration. In addition, the client selected PeopleSoft’s User Productivity Kit (UPK) as the tool for developing training materials.

The project from Assessment to Delivery was six months. The Synaptis project manager was onsite on average two weeks a month throughout the project to attend meetings and deliver presentations and project updates to the management and implementation teams. The training content development team was off site at Synaptis headquarters.

Synaptis worked with the client’s internal team to identify training audiences and define curriculums for each audience. With curriculums defined, Synaptis used the UPK to record procedures, add client specific business process and conceptual information, thereby creating a performance support solution. This phase of the project took several consultants approximately 3 months to complete.

Once the performance support was created, Synaptis used combinations of recorded procedures to output custom training guides for each user audience. Synaptis then added instructor notes and challenge exercises, and integrated the curriculum with a training database to create a complete training solution for the classroom.

To supplement the UPK based solution, Synaptis also created six web-based training courses for the project for topics with large, decentralized audiences. These courses included: Introduction to PeopleSoft 8.8, Manager Self-Service, Human Resources Viewing and Reporting, and three courses to cover Employee Self-Service.
